LAUNCH OF “AERO PERFORMANCE PACKAGE” FOR THE EVOLVED GR YARIS

Born from WRC

A form born from the process of endless challenges.
Making ever-better cars, with motorsports as its starting point.
With the launch of “Aero Performance Package,” the evolved GR Yaris represents this evolution since its inception. It has developed through repeated “breaking and fixing” in the harsh conditions of motorsports.
The newly developed “Aero Performance Package” also responded to issues uncovered by professional drivers in a variety of racing fields. After much challenge and failure, it achieved outstanding downforce and cooling performance.
The driving experience, with the wind on your side, gives you an even greater sense of oneness with the car.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing unveiled the evolved GR Yaris for the first time in the world. Orders will be accepted at Toyota vehicle dealerships nationwide from today, April 11. The car will go on sale from May 6, marking the official launch of “Aero Performance Package” for the evolved GR Yaris.

“Aero Performance Package”

With the launch of the “Aero Performance Package” for the evolved GR Yaris, this aero performance package maximizes its effect. It does so by simultaneously installing a total of six items. These items have been adjusted without compromise. This package can further improve the cooling and aerodynamic performance of the GR Yaris as it evolves. We addressed each of the issues that we became aware of by competing in the Super Taikyu Series and the All Japan Rally Championship. We pursued the ideal together with professional drivers. It is scheduled to be available as a manufacturer package option for the RZ “High performance” and RC from autumn 2025 onwards.

1. Aluminum hood with ducts
An aluminum hood with ducts, with the same shape as the carbon hood used on the GRMN Yaris, was developed in advance for cars competing in the All Japan Rally Championship. When driving at high speeds, heat from inside the engine compartment is released through the ducts. This enhances the cooling effect and improves the performance package.

2. Front lip spoiler
In order to achieve the high-level aerodynamic balance we learned from the Super Taikyu Series, we reduced the occurrence of front lift*3. We improved the front’s grounding and aerodynamic balance. This improved the total lift balance of the vehicle. Initially, we were considering five items excluding the front lip spoiler. However, after receiving feedback from professional driver Oshima, we aimed for a higher level of balance. Ultimately, we decided to add the front lip spoiler, enhancing the “Aero Performance Package” for the GR Yaris’s evolution.

3. Fender Duct
By releasing the air that accumulates inside the wheelhouse to the rear, it improves the steering feel when the nose dives*4 and the handling stability when entering corners.
4. Fuel Tank Undercover
The idea of making the bottom of the safety fuel tank of the Super Taikyu Series participating vehicle a flat shape is adopted. This optimizes the air flow under the body and improves aerodynamic performance.
5. Variable rear wing
The large rear wing contributes to steering stability at high speeds and also suppresses the snake phenomenon*5 during braking. Because it is variable, you can change the angle of the wing depending on the driving situation, such as on a circuit, and enjoy driving.

6. Rear bumper duct
Suppresses the parachute effect*6 in the rear bumper and reduces the Cd value. This was developed to cope with the harsh environment specific to motorsports, starting from a rear bumper coming off due to aerodynamic loads in the Super Taikyu Series, which has harsh racing conditions.
